Goodbye Edward

I personally fought the whole Twilight thing for years. For a number of reasons, but mainly, because I thought the whole concept sounded stupid. But what can I say? After years of pressure, I finally caved and read all the books.

It wasn't immediate love, but eventually I really got into them, and fell for Edward, and cried for Jacob.

Uh-huh.

Hook-line-and-sinker, I was in it like a prepubescent girl.

By the time I came to the party, Twilight and New Moon had already come out.

So, like any self respecting woman in her thirties with two children, I had to rent them with my friends and squeal.

Movie #1, incredibly ghetto.

Movie #2, somewhat better. Even though of course, Kristen Stewart always acts flat-lined, and I inevitably yell at her throughout the movie, wishing someone might punch her in the stomach or something.

Even though the acting might be bad, once you've fallen in, you just can't stop.

And last November we all couldn't wait for November 2012 to finish off our love story.

And finally the night came.

We gathered together

Excitedly gathered.

Because deep down inside of us, we all have an inner 13 year old girl. OH MY GAW!

And while we killed time, my pretty friend here, JaimeMac as I call her, gave me a lesson.

A, 'how to tie your scarf for the scarf-challenged' lesson.

I learned a few things, and she loved the attention! Right JaimeMac?

And then the movie started....

It was good, with a really good twist.

But now that it's over, now what? Who should we crush on now?

But until we decide....

Goodbye Edward.

Guess who got her hair pay off?!

I hope everyone has has a great Thanksgiving, and peacefully slipping into a turkey-induced coma.

I myself am enjoying some fat pants, and thinking about a long winters nap. BUT I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHARE THAT SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT.  And I have to shout.

So, we all know how I'm growing my hair out, right? And how I keep saying he had better pay up. Right?

And there is something I've wanted for a very long time....

And I talk about it all the time.

ALL.THE.TIME.

You see where this is going right?

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

HERE IT IS!

Happy hair growing out, Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, Happy Anniversary, Happy shut-your-trap-about-your-hair, Happy Kwanza, HAPPY EVERY-THING!

And I have no clue what I'm doing with it.

But that hasn't stopped me.

No sir.

My Thanksgiving has been spent taking numerous pictures, and feeling very giddy.

I sort of feel like I should make some sort of an acceptance speech, because I really feel like I won an award.

"To the hair academy, and to my long lasting hair products, I thank you for making this win possible...."

Turkey post to follow....

A veritable Bass Pro catalog

As anyone reads this post, we are on the road to our next destination.

Next stop?

Morbid obesity!

Because I've got two tickets to fatty town, also-known-as, Thanksgiving dinner after I've spent a week doing nothing but majoring in gluttony. Seriously.

But enough about ME, let's talk about the very reason we came to Michigan. DEER.

If dead deer, or guns bother you, turn away now, cause I'm about to bombard your eyes like a veritable Bass Pro catalog.

Guess you had a successful hunt?

That's right he did! THREE deer in total.

Which means that we will have enough meat to feed us for an entire year!

So as far as coming up for a successful hunting trip? He got it.

But other than hunting, we come up here to see our family, because we do not see them nearly enough. Especially Paul's beloved grandma, or as a correct Michigan-er would say, Gramma.

Four generations of Bush's right here.

And like any good red-neck, we always bring guns to shoot.

And it's pretty cool to know your man is not girl, and knows how to use a gun. I really love this picture of him. Hawt!

The boys break out in BIG smiles whenever guns are involved.

And Pierce shot a pistol for the first time

And it's safe to say that he's got a natural talent!

But we are an equal-opportunity red neck family.

Because even girls should know how to use a gun.

I may have screamed a time or two  like a little girl, but I actually enjoyed it.

You see, it's fun being with a family that's different from yours. You try things you probably never would, and your experiences are new, and exciting. While we are here, my kids act differently. They spend less time in front of a screen, and more time doing things with their hands. They all, even Hope, get involved with the deer, and it honestly makes them happy. I may be city, but I appreciate and love it here. And I know that the children love it with all their hearts. They can run and be free, and just be children.

So, I'm thankful to my family for these memories.

I love the Bush's.

We are on the road to the blessed Hoosier state and I probably won't blog for a while.

I have Vampires to swoon over, food to cook, family and friends to see, and fat pants to be worn. Have a great Thanksgiving my bloggy people!

I'm glad I'm still alive!

Well, it's official. I am THIRTY-EIGHT, and flying down the hill to the big one. I sort of just want to get it over with, you know, the whole turning forty. Like ripping off a band-aid, let's just DO IT, so I can begin getting my hair set weekly, and buying sweatshirts with red birds on it.

I'm actually known to always add a year to my age, so here's my latest idea. I'm just going to go ahead and claim forty, now! So, when it actually happens it ain't no thing. Smart?

I fully realize that I have been dreading turning forty since I turned thirty-five, and fighting it tooth and nail, but I had an epiphany. So let me share...

I should just be happy I'm alive, and shut-up already.

So, from here on out, when I start moaning about getting older, tell me to shut-up and be happy to that I'm alive.

But enough with the rambling! Let's talk about my actual birthday!

You know I have the best friend ever, right? RIGHT.

Look at the package sent to me in Michigan!  And please note my last name!

When I wake up each morning, I get to open another fun surprise! How spoiled am I?

I think I've celebrated 4 or 5 birthdays up here in Michigan, and as usual they always make me feel special, with gifts and yummy treats!

But the real highlight is always seeing where Pam will send Paul and I for our night out!

We have a running joke with Pam about the fact that she send us to some "interesting" places, you know like dive bars. Ha!

But this place was sitting on a beautiful lake and our view was lovely!

Our food was really delicious and we had a really great night! I can safely say, first day at new age, a success!

So, let's do this 38! Let's bond and try not to get too wrinkly, shall we?

I'm glad I'm still alive!

Warm fuzzies in Michigan!

Have you ever seen anything so pitiful as a little boy sitting at the window just longing to see his daddy and grandpa pull up?

PIT-I-FUL I say.

And this has been Pierce most every morning, anxiously awaiting to see if they come home with a deer....

While this one is unfazed and playing away each morning.

Thankfully we've had  fun things, such things as putting up Meemaw's Christmas tree to keep us occupied.

This is a tradition we started many years ago

And the kids are always excited to help.

And guess who else it excites?

G momma of course! Sitting right here by the fire as I type, full of warm fuzzies!

CHRISTMAS FREAKS UNITE!  AND BE PROUD I SAY!

NO BOYS ALLOWED

With the guys up here doing their MAN thing, the ladies needed decided we needed some LADY time.

NO BOYS ALLOWED.

Because obviously, boys drool, and girls rule.

As I've mentioned in years past, there really isn't a thriving metropolis around here, unless we want to hit the bar at the end of the road. Like, there are no malls here. A MOMENT OF SILENCE PLEASE.

But Pam, had the idea of hitting up a little petting zoo thingy. And for Michigan, the temps have been extremely mild, so being outdoors worked.

Besides animals to pet, they had a sweet little store that had lots of yummy treats.

But we didn't spend much time inside, because there were animals that needed to be fed!

Hope thought these goats were hilarious!

But she was intimidated by the bigger guys

So she stuck to the little dudes.

For a little joint stuck in a small town, I was really impressed with all the different animals they had. And I felt sorry for some of them, like this little guy.

But it was really neat they had real-live reindeer!

And Hope was so bummed we didn't bring along any of our "reindeer food" to give to them.

Mom, this one is just for you!

I guess I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised, and so was Hope.

She played her little heart out.

Such sweet memories made with her mommy and Meemaw.

                                                                    A good day indeed!

                                                                  Without any stinky boys.

* Side note, I apologize if some of these blog posts are turning out ghetto. I'm using Paul's computer, which is the equivalent of using a stone tablet and chisel.
