In which my bathroom got cleaned

As of today at 3:00 we will have officially made it to our summer break! WHOOT! Let the break begin, please and thank you.

The kids have been tagging along with me for seven days while I finish out my days. And while they are generally very well behaved, it has still been exhausting for all three of us. Being with your kids 24/7, well being with ANYONE 24/7, can be hard.

There was one day in particular that was a little harder than the other days, and I know the kids were sensing my stress. We got home, I got grabbed a cup of coffee and plopped myself down to just sit.

I was about five minutes into my de-stress time when I realized the kids were being crazy quiet and definitely up to something. I was too lazy to get up and see what they were doing, so like any sophisticated woman I just yelled, "KIDS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

It was then I was given strict instructions to just keep sitting and wait until they came and got me....

And those two sweet faces had a big surprise for me in my bathroom. I walked in and was greeted by the cleanest bathroom I've had in quite some time.

Those two decided to help me out and clean my bathroom. TOTALLY UNPROMPTED.

And they did a great job! But even better than a clean bathroom was the note they left me.

Being a parent is hard.

But then they do stuff like this and I cry and feel like a schmuck.

I'm so thankful for these two.

AND I'M SO THANKFUL FOR SUMMER BREAK.

Tis' the season

Tis' the season for my kids to come to work with me while I finish out my days.

Good news for me is that they actually enjoy coming with me. They love playing in an empty gym, and I guess in some small way they feel like they run the place.

Tis' the season for graduations.

And good news for me yet again, because while graduations are generally hideous, when you love the kids graduating it isn't quite as painful.

I

And tis' the season for G to ALWAYS get reflective and emotional.

Those parents stuffed into a gym proudly looking on,  yeah that will be me in the blink of an eye.

Maybe it's the PMS talking or maybe it's because I understand how quickly it all goes...

Either way, enjoy every season.

I was set up by Kentucky fans

It was Friday, the day of the big game and the day before Spring Break, so it was the start of a very good Friday.

I was excited to put on my Louisville sweatshirt and go represent my team where I am vastly outnumbered.

Here I am blissfully strolling into work, or maybe I should say ignorantly strolling into work, totally unaware of what was awaiting me.

I did a dead stop.

WHAT IS THIS?

Oh no they didn't....

BUT, OH YES THEY DID.

I may have screamed, and I may have said some words under my breath.

And then I heard all the loud laughter of the masterminds behind all of this.

You guys, they went ALL OUT.

Everywhere I looked

And I mean EVERYWHERE, the devil stared back at me.

I mean they even hacked into my computer and changed my screen saver! Evil doers.

Oh and these girls had been setting me up for days! I get visitors each day and we chat about all kind of stuff, and they try and keep me up to speed so I'm not so lame. Anyways, I think it was on Thursday they sat in the office asking me what time I get to work, and I was all like, OH ISN'T THIS SWEET, THEY ARE INTERESTED IN ALL THE DETAILS OF MY LIFE.

Oh no, it was all a big set up!

I did find a few smart people throughout the day, and I would scream and attack them.

Pretty sure I scared a few teachers. They would stare at me like a deer in headlights while I screamed and jumped up and down.

Oh and in the midst of all the trash talking over the last week, there may have been a bet placed. If Louisville wins, the girls get me a Starbucks, and if Kentucky wins, I have to sing.

WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF?

You guys, this day was so fun.

Even though these people are lost in their sinful ways of Kentucky, I absolutely adore them.

And they made me feel pretty special. I will never forget this day!

One year as a Raider

Yesterday marked ONE YEAR since I became a Raider. And of course, such an occasion calls for a selfie.

Before getting hired on at WEHS it had been eight years since I had worked full-time, so I knew it was going to be a big adjustment.

At times I wondered how I might do it all, and some days it can be downright ugly, but overall I love the job.

Awkward school pictures and all.

The thing I love most about my job is the people I work with. I know that sounds really cliche' but I work with some great people, who make my days fun.

Even though I get my fair share of hate at times.

Good thing I love them all!

Thankful to be a Raider!

I'm a lovely Valentine

I went to work prepared to see and most importantly smell a deluge of flowers on Valentines Day.

But did I honestly understand just how many flowers I would be helping handle on Friday?

Not a chance.

This was at 9:00. A.M.

Every few minutes more would come in.

To the point that the floor had to be used

Because all the tables were full.

These are kids in high school

Pretty shocked that high school kids get this much stuff!

But it was a fun day, and I enjoyed being in the thick of all the squeals and ooooooohs and ahhhhhhs.

And I was even part of the squeals myself when Paul surprised me at work.

And I in return have spent the weekend sick so he can take care of me.

I'm a lovely Valentine like that.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PARTY, EVER!

I've been a Warren East employee for about 7 months now, so I'm still a definite newbie. It's really a fun place to work, with great people, but right now at Christmas time, the fun has been amped up considerably.

Mainly in the form of extra goodies, and tighter pants.

But imagine my excitement as I went to experience my first work Christmas party, and in the words of the boss, not just any Christmas party but,  THE BEST CHRISTMAS PARTY, EVER!

One of my co-workers, who happens to work at many different schools, said "you can't miss the WEHS party, cause you got good country cooks!"

And that we do!

They food was to die for!

And I wasn't the only one who thought so...

Proof in the smile.

But the boss had more than good food up her sleeve...

SANTA! SANTA! I KNOW HIM!

So yeah, Santa and an elf made a stop by the party. And they weren't just there to be all, ho ho ho'ish, oh no, they were there to pass out gifts.

And let me tell you about the sheer horror that flashed before this boys eyes when he realized he had to go see Santa to get his gift.

He wanted the gift, yet, he didn't want to sit on his lap. WHAT TO DO?

I'll tell you what you do, you turn fifteen lovely shades of red and do what you have to do to get the goods.

Yeah, he was pretty much mortified, but we were proud of him for dealing with it. Ha!

Hope was slightly timid...

But much more open to the idea.

I might even say, happy about it.

But the kids weren't the only ones who got treats.

We played a dirty Santa game, with 'as seen on TV gifts'

It may have been mass chaos...

But it was a mass chaos of fun.

And that is exactly how I would describe the entire evening...

Fun.

Maybe more fun for some than others.

What is this phase Pierce is going through? GRUMPY OLD MAN.

So, just show them how it's done.

Get your fun props...

And just be goofy.

And you know what?

It was, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PARTY. EVER.
