Four Eyes. Except totally not.

Ah, the weekend.

And what a fabulous weekend! (Other than me getting sick) The weather was PERFECT, and we were picture perfect busy bees getting our errands done and doing so with a little extra pep in our step thanks to a perfect 65 degrees.

Kids were pumped because this was a payday weekend, they are always eagerly waiting on allowance. Pierce, of course, saved his money and Hope was asking every other minute, "when can we go shopping?!"

She's had something in mind for several weeks now. A very specific item.

GLASSES.

You want glasses??

And suddenly I had a flashback to a little G who also wanted glasses. Oh and braces, and crutches, and if I were super lucky I could have had a wheelchair for a brief time. I basically wanted to be semi-disabled. I also may have even stretched out paper clips to put them across my teeth to simulate braces. I was a strange child.

So her desiring glasses? I get it.

And she's committing to this glass persona 100%.

They are pretty adorable on her.

And now our resemblance? Well,  I think its pretty uncanny.

Who knows maybe next paycheck she'll ask for braces. Good thing I know how to hook her up with some wicked awesome paper clip ones.

The kickoff to our busy weekend

Last weekend? Super chill.

This weekend? SUPER BUSY.

Both kinds of weekends are pretty great, but busy weekends sure are fast weekends.

We got home on Friday night and got swimsuit ready to go celebrate our favorite Layton.

What a fun way for the kids to end a week of school.

Jump off all that energy

And show off your wicked cool moves.

While I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall and sweatshirt weather, it is nice to watch the kids still enjoying summer pleasures.

As we all stood outside watching the kids have fun with sweat beading all over our bodies, I had serious contemplation of joining those kids.

But instead I just opted to sweat and eat pizza, and of course my favorite, CAKE!

Pizza, cake, and swimming? What else could a kid ask for? It was a fun party and a great way to kick off our busy weekend!

Tis' the season

Tis' the season for my kids to come to work with me while I finish out my days.

Good news for me is that they actually enjoy coming with me. They love playing in an empty gym, and I guess in some small way they feel like they run the place.

Tis' the season for graduations.

And good news for me yet again, because while graduations are generally hideous, when you love the kids graduating it isn't quite as painful.

I

And tis' the season for G to ALWAYS get reflective and emotional.

Those parents stuffed into a gym proudly looking on,  yeah that will be me in the blink of an eye.

Maybe it's the PMS talking or maybe it's because I understand how quickly it all goes...

Either way, enjoy every season.

Love gets you up at 4:30

Love.

Love explains why you will do things that under normal circumstances you would never do.

For example, love gets you up at 4:30 on a Saturday morning to go with your family to an aquarium that is almost 4 hours away.

Or maybe that's insanity? But I'm gonna go with love.

So yes, we met my parents Saturday morning and headed to the Newport Aquarium.

We've been there a few times before, but it had been years since this last time.

The kids were SO excited!

And I was excited for them.

I'm not a personal fan of fish, BUT the sharks were really cool!

And I really enjoyed this fella.

I was glad that my parents joined us, but sadly dad couldn't walk it. But I know my dad enjoyed his quiet time alone on his laptop probably more than he would fish anyways. (hi dad!)

So yes both of our kids get a big kick out of fish and whathaveyou

But Hope has a downright obsession with sharks. It all started with that movie Soul Surfer and it hasn't let up, in fact she asks all the time if we can go to Hawaii to see Bethany Hamilton.

Yeah that's probably never going to happen, so pet a turtle instead.

I guess they come by this love of the marine life honestly from their daddy.

Maybe one of them will grow up and become a Marine Biologist.

Or a professional fisherman?

More than likely it's just a phase. But I'm glad we were able to do something fun and different that agreed with one of their phases.

Even if it did mean getting up at 4:30.

It's just part of life

Sometimes the internet get a bad rap, you know?

Stories about people who befriend you online only to to lure you into an alley and make a skin suit out of you.

Or maybe that's just what I think about internet lurkers at times.

But in actuality the internet is full of people like you and me. You know, relatively normal.

Remember that time me and some of my friends drove to Nashville to meet up with an internet friend, who I lovingly refer to as Grass? It was a fun time, and she didn't make a skin suit out of any of us, she was totally normal! And here we are two years later and I consider Katherine a friend.

Well imagine my delight when Grass sent a Frozen bracelet in the mail to Hope. Hope was so happy about it! You know they can't even keep Frozen merchandise on the shelves? The demand is SO high for it.

Hope has no idea who sent it to her, she just keeps telling people that "Grace" sent it to her. :-) Thank you, Katherine!

The Frozen bracelet came just in time for a Mommy and Me tea that we had scheduled for Saturday.

Hope was so excited about going and had been talking about it for days.

But when we got there she acted kind of reserved and quiet. Not really like Hope.

But I think she was just wanting some of her friends to show up.

Because with her friends by her side she was her spunky self.

I guess the older they get the more they will want their friends around to make them happy.

We had a really sweet time together and I told Hope I didn't want her to grow up, but she put me in my place, "mommy, that's just part of life."

While Hope and I were off playing, Pierce was playing a baseball game.

Apparently it was a great game and the team went to McDonald's afterwards to celebrate.

Pierce even got the game ball.

I'm so sad I missed it, but thankfully daddy took a few pictures for me.

When I saw these pictures I got sort of a sick feeling, I mean why they gotta be getting so big?

I guess Hope is right, it's just part of life.
