The lights are out on the baseball season

As of this very moment I can say that the lights have gone out on our baseball season.

Each season I feel happiness when it ends, and also sadness.

And I'm not the only one. You end up spending so much time at the field with all these people that you end up getting attached.

And while the season was a rough one, Pierce is already asking me to play fall ball, travel ball, etc...

We did end with a win, which was a nice way to close out the season. And Pierce was in for a surprise when the coaches announced he would be receiving the achievement award.

None of us really knew what that meant, but it sounded good! Awards would be given out Friday night at the Little League banquet, which was also a first for us. We just knew we had to show up at the Hot Rods stadium decorate a table?

But dang, these people REALLY decorate their tables. We're talking Pintererst to the MAX.

Our table was kinda sad in comparison.

No joke, some people went ALL.OUT.

But the kids could have cared less about tables and monogrammed mugs, they were pumped about actually getting a chance to play on that big ol' field!

I figure they must have felt pretty big time out there.

While Paul said all he felt was a big hot mess running after balls.

But Pierce?

Getting a chance to bat in there too?

That was pretty awesome.

The night drug on for HOURS. FOUR HOURS TO BE EXACT.

But Pierce going down front to receive an award sort of made up for all of that.

Coach Chris said some really great things about Pierce, and I'm sure Paul and I may have bust a button or two.

While I think Pierce was feeling pretty embarrassed to be standing in front of all these kids.

But it was worth it in the end.

He had a great season and we are so proud of the little man Pierce is becoming.

In which my bathroom got cleaned

As of today at 3:00 we will have officially made it to our summer break! WHOOT! Let the break begin, please and thank you.

The kids have been tagging along with me for seven days while I finish out my days. And while they are generally very well behaved, it has still been exhausting for all three of us. Being with your kids 24/7, well being with ANYONE 24/7, can be hard.

There was one day in particular that was a little harder than the other days, and I know the kids were sensing my stress. We got home, I got grabbed a cup of coffee and plopped myself down to just sit.

I was about five minutes into my de-stress time when I realized the kids were being crazy quiet and definitely up to something. I was too lazy to get up and see what they were doing, so like any sophisticated woman I just yelled, "KIDS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

It was then I was given strict instructions to just keep sitting and wait until they came and got me....

And those two sweet faces had a big surprise for me in my bathroom. I walked in and was greeted by the cleanest bathroom I've had in quite some time.

Those two decided to help me out and clean my bathroom. TOTALLY UNPROMPTED.

And they did a great job! But even better than a clean bathroom was the note they left me.

Being a parent is hard.

But then they do stuff like this and I cry and feel like a schmuck.

I'm so thankful for these two.

AND I'M SO THANKFUL FOR SUMMER BREAK.

Tis' the season

Tis' the season for my kids to come to work with me while I finish out my days.

Good news for me is that they actually enjoy coming with me. They love playing in an empty gym, and I guess in some small way they feel like they run the place.

Tis' the season for graduations.

And good news for me yet again, because while graduations are generally hideous, when you love the kids graduating it isn't quite as painful.

I

And tis' the season for G to ALWAYS get reflective and emotional.

Those parents stuffed into a gym proudly looking on,  yeah that will be me in the blink of an eye.

Maybe it's the PMS talking or maybe it's because I understand how quickly it all goes...

Either way, enjoy every season.

It's a wrap!

We loaded up into the car line yesterday with a little extra giddy in our giddy up, because it was finally the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.

Funny how long a school year can seem, but yet also so short. I mean how can I on one hand say, "this year is taking forever!" then turn around and say, "where did the school year go?"

Honestly I think as a mom it's a required statement on both ends, it's just part of receiving your mom card.

And seriously here we are, my children are now finished with first and third grade. AND THAT'S CRAZY TOWN.

Yesterday the first grade classes invited their parents to come and listen to them read to them, it was a "celebration of learning."

We were all piled up on blankets spread throughout the play yard, where we listened to our kids read on.

Hope kept getting distracted by her friends nearby, but we finally made it through a couple of books.

Hope's teacher, the wonderful Mrs. Flynn, told us we were free to go after we finished up our reading.

Leave a little early? DON'T MIND IF I DO.

Just let me buzz on down to Pierce's room and pick him up too! OR SO I THOUGHT. I had to PUMP.THE.BRAKES because Pierce didn't want to be picked up. No, he wanted to stay at school till the very end so he could be with his friends.

And maybe that decision can explain his response to leaving school yesterday. He was really tore up, and it honestly broke my heart for him. We made our trip for frozen yogurt and it took him some time to get excited about the upcoming break.

Pierce is such an old soul. He takes everything seriously: his grades, his sports, his friends, his family, and he's just a soft hearted child.

I feel his pain.

But sadness aside, this was a fantastic school year.

Hope's reading and writing are on point, and she's got enough BFFL's to last her to middle-age.

Pierce's math is above my level (by like a zillion) and he's just a great student. (I've also tried to back off of him a little more this year, example: I didn't ask for a picture with his teacher, so he wouldn't put up a sign, BAN MY MOM FROM THIS SCHOOL FORVER)

I guess you could say we've all changed this year!

And with that I can officially say, it's a wrap! Watch out second and fourth grade, we are coming after you!

Purpose #1 and Purpose #2

My parents came for another visit last week for two specific purposes: Watch Pierce play a baseball game and watch both the kids participate in field day.

Purpose #1 came to a screeching halt when it rained for twenty minutes and game was then canceled. Lameola.

However, we are flexible group and took advantage of the sudden free time and just hung out with each other.

This left a lot more room for deep conversations

And snuggle time.

Between purpose #1 and purpose #2, there was some extra time for other activities.

Specifically a little time to spoil the kids.

Pierce chose a new hat with a brim the size of an Oldsmobile.

Yeah this wide brimmed hat trend is something isn't it? I Told Pierce he's beginning to look like Spike Lee.

We just need to add some lettering...

But as far as purpose #2?

Well I am happy to report that it went off without a hitch! Rain was in the forecast but thankfully it held off and they were just stuck with crazy heat.

Mom was so good to send me pictures while I was at work.

I really do hate missing this stuff.

But next best thing is having a set of Grandparents there to stand in your place.

I'm always thankful for visitors

And I'm really thankful that the school year is almost finished! HOLLA!
