Father's

This Sunday is all about Dad.

And sadly, Paul and I won't see either of ours. But that doesn't mean that we won't be thinking of them.

I personally think that dad's get a bad rap. They are usually portrayed as dumb, lazy men who are no good.

But I know better than that.

Some of my earliest memories of my dad are him heading into work every Saturday morning. The rest of us would be asleep, (or at least I was supposed to be, I would always wait until I heard him close the front door, and then I would come bounding out of my room) and I could hear him getting ready, then he would leave the house in his three-piece-suit to work the day away.

And Saturday's at the office weren't where it ended.

In my minds eye, I can still see him riding his tractor in the dark night with the headlights on so he could finish his work.

And he wasn't some absentee dad either.

He was always at every game, every boring play, and each horrendous dance routine.

And even though Tom didn't raise me, I know what an impact he had on Paul's life.

He dedicated his life to others, and even moved his family away to live a missionary life. That is a good man.

We will miss you Sunday.

"He opened the jar of pickles when no one else could. He was the only one in the house who wasn't afraid to go into the basement by himself. He cut himself shaving, but no one kissed it or got excited about it. It was understood when it rained, he got the car and brought it around to the door. When anyone was sick, he went out to get the prescription filled. He took lots of pictures.....but be he was never in them." --Erma Bombeck

Thank you my dear daughter, you never know when you are in the journey if you are doing it right or not...you hope, you try but is it really all you could be? Only time and the actions of your children in their lives will give a clue......in looking at you I would say we did something right. Love you sweetie......a bunch....
