Can't help falling in love

This weekend my parents will be married FIFTY years.

FIF-TY

Holy crud, that's a long time

When I look at these sweet pictures of my very young parents (my mom was 18, my dad 19) I can't help but appreciate the fact that they've stuck it out together.

Marriage isn't a walk in the park, or maybe it's a walk in a really hilly park, you know like a hard walk.

And I appreciate the fact that they never gave up on that walk.

I can only imagine what they must think when they look back at these pictures.

Probably something like, "wasn't that just yesterday?"

Congratulations, mom and dad! Celebrating 50 years is a BIG DEAL.

Here's to FIFTY more. :-)

My parents song, by the one and only Elvis:

Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you.

Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you.

Like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you

That is just wonderful, and sadly so rare. Hope they have many more years of happiness together!

50 years? That is great! They do not look like they are old enough to be married 50 years.
