NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS WHEN YOU CAMP

After our whirlwind trip to the land that flows with milk-n-honey to meet our little Camden, we hustled back home because my two men had a little adventure planned.

Paul decided that Pierce was ready to go on his first backpacking trip.

Like a for reasly, put on a backpack and hike into the woods trip. You know, like a man.

EXCEPT THAT HE'S NOT A MAN. I mean just look at my little bay-beeeeee.

You know I may have given just a teeny-tiny "speech" before Paul traipsed my baby into the woods.

But he just blankly looked into my eyes like, are you still here?

So yeah, off they went.

And yes I was slightly nervous, but what's a mom to do?

SPREAD YOUR WINGS BAY-BEEEE.

We did chat a time or two on the phone, and I was happy that they seemed to be having a good time.

I want Pierce (and Hope eventually) to make these sort of memories with their daddy.

Look at this little stud, I mean bay-beeeeeee, using a saw like a little dude.

He loves all this sort of stuff.

So a good time was being had, and all was well...

Paul called me at 7:45 to say they were going to bed. I KNOW, 7:45?! But when you are sitting outside in the dark with nothing to do, you tend to go to bed early.

Okay honey, chat in the morning..

And then just like Friday night, I was sitting on the couch nodding off, when my phone rang at 10:30. SERIOUSLY, WHAT'S WITH THESE NERVE WRACKING PHONE CALLS. And more importantly, why am I so old and always nodding off?

It was Paul, and they were headed home. Apparently there was some sort of "super tiny ticks that were getting through the mesh of the tent, and they were getting bit so much that they decided to hick back and head home."

OH EM GEE.

My bay-beeeee is being bit by tiny ticks?? He's up and 10:30? He has to hike 2.5 miles in the dark?

My theory is correct: NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS WHEN YOU CAMP.

They finally got in around midnight, and I of course when into mad mom mode. Not like MAD, but like mad.

ARE YOU OKAY? SHOW ME WHERE THEY BIT YOU! OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OKAY?

And as I was in a frenzy looking for ticks, Paul pointed out these things on his legs the size of pepper flakes. Tiny. He was being bit by specks of dust or something, and I sort of thought he lost his mind. I mean really? Maybe he just wanted to come home or something. But I stood corrected, because when Pierce and Paul woke up Monday morning they had whelps all over their feet. And now I have to worry that they'll come down with some weird bug disease. Oy.

I mean, if that sort of stuff doesn't turn you off to the outdoors, I mean what will? Surely Pierce won't ever what to do that again!

Pierce, do you ever want to go back?

Oh yeah, I had a great time!

So that settles it, my bay-beeee is a nut just like his dad.

And I love it.

Boys are dumb. ;)

I think it's fantastic when the boys do stuff like this!

That's great that Pierce enjoyed his time with his dad!! I agree nothing good happens when you camp outside!! Hope all is well with the bites. Watch them carefully if a rash occurs because my niece was just diagnosed with Lyme disease from being bit by a tick!
