I'm glad I'm still alive!

Well, it's official. I am THIRTY-EIGHT, and flying down the hill to the big one. I sort of just want to get it over with, you know, the whole turning forty. Like ripping off a band-aid, let's just DO IT, so I can begin getting my hair set weekly, and buying sweatshirts with red birds on it.

I'm actually known to always add a year to my age, so here's my latest idea. I'm just going to go ahead and claim forty, now! So, when it actually happens it ain't no thing. Smart?

I fully realize that I have been dreading turning forty since I turned thirty-five, and fighting it tooth and nail, but I had an epiphany. So let me share...

I should just be happy I'm alive, and shut-up already.

So, from here on out, when I start moaning about getting older, tell me to shut-up and be happy to that I'm alive.

But enough with the rambling! Let's talk about my actual birthday!

You know I have the best friend ever, right? RIGHT.

Look at the package sent to me in Michigan!  And please note my last name!

When I wake up each morning, I get to open another fun surprise! How spoiled am I?

I think I've celebrated 4 or 5 birthdays up here in Michigan, and as usual they always make me feel special, with gifts and yummy treats!

But the real highlight is always seeing where Pam will send Paul and I for our night out!

We have a running joke with Pam about the fact that she send us to some "interesting" places, you know like dive bars. Ha!

But this place was sitting on a beautiful lake and our view was lovely!

Our food was really delicious and we had a really great night! I can safely say, first day at new age, a success!

So, let's do this 38! Let's bond and try not to get too wrinkly, shall we?

I'm glad I'm still alive!

I thought 30 was going to be tough & I was already set on working on a mid-life crisis, but it wasn't that bad... not sure how 40 will be. Glad you'll get there first to report your findings! :)
Glad you had a great bday with the Michigan fam!
(YES you are completely spoiled by Tracey...but I must say I am really, REALLY jealous. SIGH. I wanna adopt Tracey...)

Yay! I'm glad that you're still alive too :). The day you turn 40 I will request your address (I figure 2 more years should increase your confidence that I am not a creepy internet stalker type and give it to me :) and send you the BEST sweatshirt with kitten applique that I can find! :)

Forty ain't gonna be no big thang! You will do it up with flare, just like S. ;) I'm glad you have enjoyed your birthday week!!! Just remember, those little gifts were just buttering you up in case you don't like your real gift!

I had a rough time when I turned 30. For some reason not being in my 20's any more made me feel old. Your right though, we should just be happy every day that we are granted another.

Happy 38th Birthday Gretchen!! I know I wished you a happy birthday on facebook but I am only just getting around to visiting you here too. You look great for 38 and you are still young with the right attitude too :) When I turned 25 (a decade ago) I worked myself up that I was a quarter of a century, and then I got to thinking like you did...I should be thankful I made it to 25 and beyond because so many don't :(
So here's to being 35 or 38 and nearing 40, you get better with age I say!
Lots of love xo
