It wasn't a deal breaker

When I met Paul, there was one obvious thing. We were total opposites.

SO opposite.

And for the most part I was intrigued by our differences, and I was sure it wouldn't be a problem.

UNTIL.

In the midst of our dating and talking for hours-at-a-time (who else remember doing all that?) he told me he was a hunter.

STOP THE DATING TRAIN.

I vividly remember thinking, this is a deal-breaker.

I don't come from a family of hunters, I didn't know hunters, and I honestly just didn't understand it. I mean, why would someone hunt? Now, granted, it's not like I'm a vegetarian, and I will eat an animal without a problem, I just don't like to think about how it got to my plate. You know?

And it took me many years to get my head around it.

But it wasn't a deal-breaker.

And here we are today, father and son, proud to hunt.

So, what's a wife to do?

She let's her husband buy her some camo and wear it proudly. FOR ONE WEEK.

We went into to town today, (that's how it's literally referenced) and it's a whole different kind of world here. First thing you see when walk into a grocery store, isn't apple and turnips.

It's camo...

And it's everywhere!

I remember the first time Paul brought me up to Michigan for opening day of hunting season, I was in for QUITE the shock. They lead the news with hunting stories. For realsie they did. And then when Paul got three deer that year, his grandmother cried. I was wondering, WHAT IS THE DEAL!

But I finally came to understand it's their way of life! And those deer feed them, and they are sincerely thankful for it.

I may never want to hunt, but I get it now.

And here's what I've decided.

While in Rome....

Haha nice hat!
Yeah I don't get the whole hunting thing. I am too emotional and like to think my meat comes from a factory somewhere, not off the back of a truck. I can't think about it, but I understand why people do it. However it isn't done over here, people fish but that's about it. See, my meat really does come from a factory :)

Girl, if someone can go out and get your food for you... you need to hang on to that.

I don't blame you about hunting but if it makes him happy it has to make you happy!!
